Thermal Pools and Gondolas | Oetztal, Austria
We are quickly falling in love with Austria. This trip has been the first time visiting Austria for both Mike and I and we have absolutely love it so far! We have had a rental vehicle for this portion of the trip and it has been so nice to go wherever we like and have freedom to explore! We booked our vehicle through Auto Europe Car Rental and would highly recommend them as an affordable European rental agency!
We know a family who does a lot of traveling and they recently told us about a magical place in Austria in the Oetztal Valley. They told us that it is their number one summer destination and they've now visited three years in a row! We knew that we needed to see it for ourselves!
The Oetztal region in Austria are filled with outdoor adventure and are very family friendly! A unique part of visiting this region is getting access the Oetztal premium card which gives you three days or more access to basically everything in the region! It's unbelievable actually. With the three day premium card you have access to 9 gondolas, several outdoor adventure parks, swimming parks, lakes, bike rentals, and all of the museums in the area. The tourism board here has definitely made it so that you never run out of things to do! It is an incredible area for a family vacation. We'd love to come back here with our extended family members because we know it would be a blast! You can visit the tourism website for Oetztal and Soelden here.
We stayed at the Aqua Dome in Langenfeld. The hotel is in a central location and gave us quick access to all of the activities. The hotel itself was fantastic! There are more than 12 indoor and outdoor thermal pools as well as fun kid pools. They literally have something for every age! We loved our stay there and hope to come back in the wintertime so we can experience those thermal pools in the winter wonderland atmosphere. That would be magical!
In Soelden we did the Soelden Gondola which takes you up the mountain and has fantastic views of the Austrian Alps. We also got to see the cool glass building that is featured in Spectre James Bond, just a little bragging point about our visit here.
We spent an afternoon at Area 47, an outdoor adventure park for teenagers and adults. Mike had a blast doing the slides and ski jump and thought it was one of the most thrilling parks he had ever been to. I wish so badly I could do some of the events but it was too risky being 24 weeks pregnant! It is on our list for our next visit!
We loved renting bikes for an afternoon and riding around the trails near the Aqua Dome Hotel. It ended up raining on us but that made the bike ride just that much more adventurous and memorable. How cute is Whitney with the flowers?
Our only regret with our stay here was not having more time! We think that you need at least a week or two here to really experience the Oetztal and Soelden regions! For any families that love the outdoors you have to add this place to your list, it is incredible and has everything you'd want in a family vacation. So beautiful and full of fun!
If you are planning a trip to Austria we suggest checking out the tourism website for more information on these regions. We believe there is something here for every family! If you do visit please share your adventure with us! We'd love to hear.
